Innovative strategy for delivery of housing for homeless veterans.

Y&M Architects is proud to partner with Shangri-La Construction and Step Up on Second, a nonprofit homeless housing agency, to rapidly convert and rehab “nuisance” motels into 400 permanent supportive apartments for homeless veterans.  Scheduled occupancy for all 400 units, is by December of 2017.

Under the deal, developers will purchase underutilized, often run-down motels and convert them to efficiency apartments. The city’s housing authority will issue vouchers funded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which will cover residents’ rent and provide supportive services, including case management and counseling.

Y&M Architects is excited to be involved in this project to support our veterans, and provide them with greatly needed quality housing.
